County’s recycling centres ready for festive rush

Staffordshire’s household waste recycling centres are ready to take the extra strain from Christmas over the holiday period.

Normal service will continue for all of the county’s 14 waste centres apart from on December 25th, December 26th and January 1st.

All sites will be open until 5pm on Friday, December 23rd and until 3pm on Christmas Eve.

They will open and close as usual between December 27th and 30th, and all will be open until 3pm on New Year’s Eve, to help families deal with the extra bottles, cans and wrappings from the week’s festivities.

Gill Heath, cabinet member for communities & the environment, said:

There is a huge amount of rubbish generated over the festive period, so our recycling centres will be ready and waiting.

Anyone who wants to get a head start on clearing the house of wrapping paper, bottles or something that’s been replaced by a new gift will be pleased to know our waste recycling centres are able to help.”

She added:

Apart from December 25th, 26th and January 1st, all our recycling centres will open and close on the same days of the week as they do for the rest of the year.”

That means Biddulph, Lichfield. Stone and Wombourne will be closed on December 27th; Burntwood, Newcastle, Cheadle, Rugeley and Uttoxeter will close on December 28th and 29th; while Biddulph, Burton, Lichfield, Stone and Wombourne will be closed January 2nd.
