Staffordshire’s leader is backing England for semi-final success tomorrow as the side take on Croatia in Moscow.
County council leader Philip Atkins said the England team have had the best preparation for the tournament using the state-of-the-art training facilities at St George’s Park in Staffordshire.
England have every chance of reaching the final and then going all the way and we’re proud in Staffordshire to have had the team at St George’s Park making final preparations for the tournament.
The team was here at the National Football Centre, home of all the England teams, just before heading out to Russia. Their ethos is ‘the players of tomorrow have the chance to make new history; that is something to be grasped.’
Whatever happens they have been a credit to our country. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for success tomorrow and for the final should they reach it. I know the whole county will be urging the team on and I’d like to wish our players the very best of luck from Staffordshire.”
