Road improvements at town junction set to begin

Resurfacing of a double roundabout junction in Hednesford is set to begin next Monday July 31.

The two-week improvement scheme will see the roundabouts on the A460 Hill Top resurfaced, including the approaches from Uxbridge Street, Hill Street, East Cannock Road and Stafford Lane.

Temporary road closures will be needed, with signed diversions put in place. The first phase of the scheme will see the closure of the approach roads Uxbridge Street and Hill Street by the petrol station. The next phase will see the closure of the approach roads East Cannock Road and Stafford Lane. All work will take place on weekdays between 9am and 3.30pm. The scheme will be completed on Friday August 11.

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet support member for highways and transport Helen Fisher said:

This scheme is part of our rolling programme of road improvements across the county. It’s a busy junction and is on the main link between Cannock and Rugeley so this is an important scheme. It is being carried out in two phases so people will be able to access Hill Top at all times. We’d like to thank people travelling in the area for their patience while the work is carried out.”
