Staffordshire motorists are being urged to drive with extra care later in the week with freezing conditions forecast and potentially snow showers.
From Thursday afternoon colder weather has been forecast with sub-zero temperatures at night. The county council’s gritting teams are preparing for a busy weekend with snow ploughs at the ready in the north.
Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet support member for highways and transport Helen Fisher said:
We’re expecting freezing temperatures towards the end of the week so would like to remind people to drive with extra care. People should slow down even on gritted roads and also be prepared by ensuring they have a blanket in their car in the event of a breakdown. We would also urge people to avoid travelling unless absolutely necessary where there is heavier snow fall. Our gritting teams are well prepared and set to head out countywide if needed.”
