Motorists are being advised of overnight full closures of the stretch of the A50 at Uttoxeter this week.
The road will be closed in both directions between the Blythe Bridge/Tean roundabout and the B5030 roundabout, including the A522 westbound junction in the early hours of Wednesday October 12 and Thursday October 13. Closures will take place between 1am and 4am, with diversion notices in place.
The work to remove overhead power lines is part of the wider junction improvement project, which will also see a new bridge built over the A50 to carry the A522.
Staffordshire County Council’s economy leader Mark Winnington said:
We want motorists using the A50 to be aware of the early hours closures and if using the road at these times to allow additional travel time around the diversion route. The work is being done overnight to minimise disruption. It is part of the wider junction improvement project which will support local growth, ease congestion and improve safety.”
The project to upgrade the A50 was announced at the end of 2013 as part of the Government’s National Infrastructure Plan. The Highways England investment is part of a £1.8 billion investment to modernise the Midlands strategic road network and is being delivered by Staffordshire County Council on behalf of Highways England.
