Work to improve car parks in Newcastle town centre will begin on Monday November 27.
The improvements will be carried out as part of a partnership project by the county council and Newcastle Borough Council. They will take place at borough council car parks and include installing new signs, removal of old signs and lighting columns and replacing entrance barriers.
In addition King Street car park will have a raised hump and bollards stalls installed to slow down cars travelling through it. While work is being carried out, cars will not be able to travel through the car park from King Street and Seagrave Street.
The project is set to be completed by Friday December 8. Access to businesses will be maintained throughout the works period.
Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet support member for highways and transport Helen Fisher said:
This scheme will improve safety at the town centre car parks and we’re pleased that it will be completed before the run-up to Christmas. They will remain accessible throughout the works period so town centre business will not be affected.”
