Gritters ready for forecast ice and snow

Staffordshire’s gritting fleet will be on the roads tonight as temperatures are expected to fall below freezing.

Helen Fisher, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet support member for Highways and Transport, said:

With temperatures forecast to fall below freezing overnight and the possibility of snow on higher ground in the early hours of Tuesday, our gritters will be heading out across the county this evening.

Officers will monitor the situation overnight and react accordingly to keep Staffordshire on the move, but, as always, if there is snow and ice on Tuesday morning people should take care and allow extra time for their journeys even if roads have been gritted.”
