Shoppers in and around Burton are being urged to make the most of local deals this Black Friday, share the news and help boost town businesses.
The Get Vocal About Local Burton campaign was launched by the county council last week to promote all that’s great about the town and encourage people to shop, eat and spend leisure time there.
Black Friday presents a good opportunity for businesses to boost trade and shoppers to grab a bargain. Businesses and residents can get involved this week by posting details about deals on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #GetVocalAboutLocal and #Burton. Posts will be shared with over 20,000 people and people should include a picture if possible.
#BlackFriday is already trending locally – meaning people are already looking for great deals. People can find out more and sign up to receive updates at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/getvocal or email email@example.com
The Get Vocal About Local campaign is running across a range of digital platforms including social media, radio, media and through local events.
People taking part and posting on social media about what they love about independent Burton businesses will be entered into a weekly prize draw. They will have the chance to win vouchers for local restaurants, Christmas food hampers and tickets for Uttoxeter Racecourse and Burton Albion. Anyone posting before midnight on Sunday will be in with a chance of winning a £50 voucher for The Dial Restaurant and Bar in Burton.
Through the campaign, businesses will also be able to find out the range of support offered locally, including from the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Growth Hub.
Staffordshire County Council cabinet support member and local county councillor Philip White said:
Black Friday gives Burton businesses a great opportunity to promote their goods and services at a vital time of year in terms of trade.
We’re encouraging as many people as possible to get involved, letting people know about the best deals and favourite locally bought goods.
Our Get Vocal About Local campaign is spreading the message that Burton is open for business and has so much to offer. It’s so easy for people to get involved and support local traders.”
