Find out more about fostering at information evening

People from Leek and the surrounding areas interested in becoming a foster carer are being invited to an information evening where they can find out more.

The information session will be held at Westwood Golf Club in Leek on Thursday 6 April 2017, starting at 7pm.

The evenings are informal and open to anyone and are a great opportunity for people who want to find out more about fostering with Staffordshire County Council.

Amanda Fritz, Fostering Manager at Staffordshire County Council is encouraging people to come along.  Amanda said:

“Fostering is one of the most rewarding things you can do and can give a young person the chance of a better start in life. Lots of our foster families tell us it’s the best thing they have ever done and gives them the feeling that they are making a real difference.

“We are always looking for new foster families to come forward and coming along to one of the information sessions could be your first step in becoming a foster carer. You will have the opportunity to have a coffee and a chat with foster carers and social workers in a relaxed environment and be able to find out what’s involved and about the support and training you will receive.

“Ideally we would like people to book a place so we know you are attending but you can just turn up on the night too.”

Staffordshire County Council’s Fostering Service has been recognised by Ofsted as Outstanding for the training and support it provides for carers and their families. As well as the support and training from the service all new foster carers are allocated an experienced foster carer as a mentor and receive an allowance that covers the cost of caring for a child in their home.

The information evening will consist of an informal presentation given by a Fostering Social Worker followed by a question and answer session with current foster carers. For further information please visit www.care4child.org, or contact us on 0800 169 2061.
