Accommodation found for residents at fire-damaged care home

Following the fire at Standon House, Tamworth, Staffordshire County Council officers have been working throughout Easter Sunday with the families of residents and with other organisations to find suitable alternative accommodation.

Helen Riley, Staffordshire County Council’s deputy chief executive, said:

Four residents were moved shortly after the incident and by the end of today the remaining 13 residents should be placed in other accommodation.

Plans are also in place for when the seven residents who needed hospital treatment are discharged.

I would to thank everyone for working together so quickly and effectively to reduce the disruption as much as possible for those affected.”

Notes for editors

Standon House is a privately-run care home. Following an incident like this Staffordshire County Council has a safeguarding duty to all residents.
